Microsoft Enterprise Search and Digital Television

Last friday I had a Lecture about Microsoft Enterprise Search and digital television at PUC-RJ, and I got very excited. Not about the technology they use, but about how they use it.

Microsoft is working on a project that mixes the capacity of digital television to interact with the consumer, with web search. Yeah search!

The project consists of using a crawler to get information that's inside the closed caption.

Why trying to get information in a audio track if you could get in a Closed Caption text?

So, they developed an interactive system capable of showing to the consumer a lot of search possibilities, from Images to Wikipedia information and Amazon shopping. The demo showed at the lecture, gave me a very good impression of what they came for. Very intuitive and simple they are trying to let the user have control of the TV with the search features on a simple remote control pointed to a PC ( looks like a TV box) capable of obtaining the TV signal and covering with a wave of interaction.

Unfortunately, I don't have so much information because the lecture was very short and they talked more about Newscrawler and Text-mining than the project itself.

Anyway, if I find more information I will post here!

How brazilians are dealing with Twitter?

I think the big question here is how brazilian will welcome Twitter. I can surely afirm that Twitter is getting all kind of attention. Companies are moving forward and introducing to their websites the follow button, the online stores are starting to participate, newspapers are announcing the micro-blog revolution and fortunately, excellent writers, bloggers and artists are joining the hype and getting their spaces on the Twitter revolution.

Brazil is entering the Twitter world and walking forward to get a good slice of participation on it. The number of new users is growing and, like all the world, is growing with a huge mass who don't know how to deal with a simple question and 140 characters. Thats sad but that's what increases the popularity.

I'm sure that, like me, there are thousand of other people who want to give a beautiful future to Twitter and surely will participate with interesting topics and ideas.
